In 1998 I started working on more variations of the tea bowl
and experimented with larger pieces using the same aesthetic.
I also started experiments in high fired ceramics trying to hold
the feeling of wabi.
The following are images of many of the vessels that I completed
in 1998.
When you move your cursor over a thumbnail image, its number
and its price will pop up if you are using MS Internet Explorer
3+ or Netscape 4. Clicking on the thumbnail will bring up a
large photo of the item and more information about it. Photos
with borders have been sold.
Because raku ceramics are fired at relatively low temperatures
and exposed to temperature shocks, raku ceramics are less durable
and their glazes are not as stable as high fired 'functional'
pieces. For these reasons raku
wares should be considered to be nonfunctional artworks.
Some of the bowls below were damaged in my move to a new house.
I have not yet had time to mark those that are not available
because of that damage.
