English as a Second Language (ESL)
Students at Bradford’s Center for International
and English Language Services (CIELS) study English language for 25 hours
per week. The program helps intermediate and advanced students of English
improve their skills in listening, speaking, reading, and writing English
and prepare for the TOEFL
examination. (note: this link will open a new browser window-to return

A major program objective is to ready students
for university study in the United States. International students who enroll
at Bradford College for a Bachelor’s degree must have at least 525 on
the TOEFL, offered at Bradford at least once per semester.
Advanced level students can take one regular
college course for credit or audit in addition to English courses.
Bradford ESL students live on campus in the
same dorm--sometimes the same room--as American students. They also participate
in cultural and recreational activities. All students have access to the
Internet, e-mail, and a computer center.
