The Center for Academic Achievement (C.A.A.)
promotes the academic development of all Bradford College students. The
Center develops students’ self-awareness as learners, provides academic
support, and heightens faculty awareness of students’ needs. Students
are invited to assess their academic strengths and weaknesses and to develop
a plan to improve upon their skills. They may also be guided to other
appropriate campus resources in order to meet their scholastic goals.
Certified peer tutors provide the human
resources needed to achieve the mission of the C.A.A. The Center recognizes
the importance of writing-across-the-curriculum (W.A.C.) at Bradford;
therefore, all tutors are trained as writing tutors. Other resources include
the Director of Academic Support Resources; the Coordinator of Writing
Tutor Training and W.A.C. Support Resources; and volunteer faculty. Computer
software packages; Internet accessibility; faculty-prepared materials;
a teaching and learning library; and assessment tools are also available
to help students achieve their academic goals. These same tools may also
be used by professors to enrich their interaction with all students.
Through a combination of these initiatives,
the C.A.A. continues to assist all Bradford students in their quest for
academic success.
