Dr. Patricia Cronin

The major in social policy and human services is designed to provide students with broad-based expertise in the areas of social science, public health, and human services. We stress the importance of viewing problems from multiple perspectives, and of understanding and applying social science analysis to such issues as violence, neighborhood and community, and children and families. We pay particular attention to the development, process, and impact of social policy change. Students gain practical skills in grant writing, oral and written communication, research, problem solving, information retrieval, and critical evaluation and analysis.
While this major is excellent preparation for graduate work, many students find immediate employment in career fields that include human services, criminal justice, and research.
