By drawing from several disciplines, including politics, economics, and anthropology, the major in international studies provides students with a framework of theories and concepts for understanding power relationships throughout the global system and the dynamics of societies and cultures beyond our own. Because we place special emphasis on critical thinking and analysis, students learn to examine issues from diverse social, economic, and national perspectives. They also develop useful political skills.
After graduation, students who major in international studies are prepared to step directly into positions in international business and social or government service in the foreign field. This major is also good training for graduate education in international affairs, intercultural communication, journalism, and international business.
