CAMPUS ACTIVITIES & STUDENT GROUPS

Thi Chi is a popular activity among students


     Involvement and participation are distinct qualities of the Bradford College community. Students actively shape the co-curricular life of the College through planning and participating in a variety of events and in a number of the many active clubs on campus.
  


CLUBS AND PROGRAMS

     Various College clubs, activities, events, and traditions give students the opportunity to explore their leadership potential, try something new, or just have some fun! The Director of Campus Activities along with Student Senate and Club Chairs oversee student organizations. Senate also allocates student activity funds to clubs and designs procedures for the development of new student groups. Here are some examples of the ways in which you can get involved:

Bradford Artists
A student group that sponsors student shows and lectures.

Bradford Literary Union
A forum for Bradford writers to share and critique one another’s work. The Literary Union hosts workshops and readings.

Bradford Pentucket Chorale
A combined College and local community chorus that performs throughout the area .

Bradford Commuter Network (BCN)
Advocates for the needs and interests of commuter students. The BCN lounge is located outside of the College bookstore.

The Bradford Voice
A student-run College newspaper that produces bi-weekly issues.

Bradford Review
A College literary magazine that includes stories, poetry, and artwork.

Bradford Entertainment Department (B.E.D.)
B.E.D. plans special events including dances, concerts, movies, semi-formals, and coffee-house gatherings.

Civic Society
Provides opportunities to develop and practice skills in public speaking and debate.

Community Service
Volunteers are involved with local agencies. See Community Service Learning for more information.

Dance Company
Membership by audition; performs each semester

Film-Making Society
Students will learn all aspects of film and video production. Produces "Bradford Chronicle", a news show on Public Access T.V.

Gamers
Members share common interests in animated films and fantasy games such as Dungeons and Dragons.

Gospel Choir
Member practice & perform at special events.

G.L.B.T.A. (Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender Assoc.)
Provides support for students to discuss issues relating to gay, lesbian, and bisexual students. Promotes and sponsors educational and social programs throughout the year.

International Club
Encourages intercultural awareness and understanding through various social and educational programs.

Leadership Conference
An annual event open to all students featuring speakers on a variety of topics ranging from skill-building sessions to discussing relevant contemporary issues.

Leadership Institute
Participants attend a weekly series of workshops that focus on building the foundation relevant to achieving success in leadership roles while at Bradford, and beyond.

MASS PIRG
Bradford Chapter of Mass. Public Interest Research Group. This group works to preserve the environment and community advocacy.

Music Theater Workshop
Members perform shows twice a year. Auditions are required for major roles.

Orton Dyslexia Society
Provides information regarding learning disabilities to the College community.

S.T.A.R.S. (Student Trainers for Awareness and Responsibility)
Peer educators who assist in planning social and educational events regarding all areas of wellness and the benefits of a healthy lifestyle.

Student Senate
Elected body of students who oversee the Student Activity Fee, student clubs organizations, and addresses concerns about student life.

Unidad
Sponsors educational and social events to promote awareness and appreciation for Hispanic and Latino cultures.

United Sisters and Brothers
Sponsors educational and social events to promote awareness and appreciation for African-American cultures.

W.H.A.T.
College radio station where students serve as DJs and technical staff.

Women's Resource Network
Addresses a range of women's issues through educational and social events.

Yearbook
Produces an annual review of life at Bradford.


CAMPUS CENTER

the old gym takes a new life as the campus center

     The Campus Center is the gathering place for students, faculty, and staff outside of the classrooms, residence halls, and offices. The building is regularly used for dances, coffeehouses, comedians, various vendor sales, and special events. Also located in the building is the snack bar, campus mailboxes, meeting space, student club offices, and the Department of Athletics. It serves as natural meeting place for members of the community to connect.
 


LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM

the leadership program lets you take charge of your life

     The Leadership development program has been developed as an avenue for students to learn, strengthen, and practice general leadership skills. Students have the opportunity to attend selected workshops, a six-week institute, a leadership conference, and numerous in-service training opportunities designed to help individuals build the foundation relevant to achieving success in leadership roles while at Bradford, and beyond. Topics are addressed in a variety of formats, including leadership styles, effective communication, group dynamics, meeting management, budgeting and fund-raising, ethical decision-making, goal setting, motivation and building a team, and time management.
